The Catholic Church Cares About Gays
Here at Focus on the Family, we take the view that there's an important difference between feeling gay and acting on those feelings. As with any form of sinful behavior, the transgression comes not in being tempted , but in willfully engaging in activity that is contrary to God's law. So yes — you can be a Christian and struggle with homosexual tendencies at the same time; but no — you can't be a faithful, obedient Christian while willingly involving yourself in homosexual acts.
Anybody who seriously desires to follow Jesus Christ needs to make it his or her goal to abstain from sexual practices that the Bible clearly identifies as sinful. To go further: Not alongside you, not over you, but in you.
Homosexuality and Salvation | Focus on the Family
This is the deeper reason why a practicing homosexual cannot be a practicing Christian. The same would go for any human being engaged in any sexual sin; just as Paul says in his first letter to the Corinthians, "Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! When we accept Christ as Savior, we also make a decision to live the way He wants us to live — righteously by the power of the Holy Spirit. Is Homosexuality A Sin
I think, however, the answer is easy: Yes, homosexuals are going to Hell. But guess what? Liars are going to Hell too. So are gluttons, drunkards, and adulterers. Do you see a pattern here? Everyone is going to Hell. Guilty people deserve to be punished and innocent people go free.
The problem is that this question often carries with it an incorrect assumption: Violators go directly to Hell. Do not pass go.
But this is not true. Perhaps rephrasing the question would help: Can people with same-sex attractions SSA go to Heaven? Yes, they can.
So you’re saying gay people can’t love each other?
This is no different than those who are selfish, steal, or commit adultery. People who commit these crimes can be pardoned from the punishment they deserve. God did.
Blame someone else. Some people who went to church last Sunday will be in Hell. Some people who study the Bible will be there too. Those people have also committed crimes that render them guilty. God does.
He decides the terms for acquittal. He also shows no partiality towards whom He pardons. A churchgoer has no advantage over a homosexual. This is great news.
